New Sheridan Hotel

Sheridan Hotel: Info and Show Schedule

During the San Juan Mountain gold rush, the smell of worn leather and the sounds of hard labor filled the air of Telluride. As precious metals were unearthed, more prospectors and profiteers moved to the area. The growing mining town of Telluride needed boarding for its passers-by and thus the Sheridan Hotel was constructed in 1891.

Destroyed by fire in 1894, the New Sheridan was built, this time in brick, in 1895. As decades passed and Telluride’s riches changed from gold to powdery snow, the New Sheridan Hotel evolved as well. Recently renovated with 26 handsome rooms, the New Sheridan is Telluride’s newest oldest hotel.

Home to the town’s oldest bar, the Historic New Sheridan Bar, a world-renowned restaurant, the Chop House. The New Sheridan has raised impeccable quality and service to a new level. Offering rich tradition paired with historic ambience, we invite you to discover the New Sheridan.

If you’re looking for a unique, hospitable, and charming accommodation in Telluride - choose the New Sheridan. My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights for the fall season and have had the best experience. The rooms are so cozy, everyone was very welcoming, and it’s in the center of everything. The action is all here! Neighboring the Gondola, phenomenal dining inside the hotel, close to other shops, and lively. The people that work at this hotel make you feel welcoming and go out of their way to make sure you’re taken care of. We truly enjoyed our stay and will recommend this hotel to all friends & family who are looking to vacation in Telluride.

We were recently in Telluride—my son and I—for my daughter’s destination wedding in October 2020. First of all, we were provided a room with twin beds, which was great, but were easily accommodated with a roll-away for another family member—and a third night—at the last minute. Our room was quiet, spacious, with plenty of closet room for three (and loads of good hangers), as well as ample furniture storage, three chairs, and a desk. The bathroom had a great tub and a heated floor. Three large windows, to the east, could also be opened a crack to let in the mountain air. Every Covid-19 consideration was also in place. We had two breakfasts, which were fab (with 20% off for hotel guests), with delicious menu and coffee options (Adam was our great waiter both mornings). The rehearsal dinner for 12 was also in their Chop House dining room with excellent service and outstanding food. For those who appreciate small, historic, and charming (yet comfortable, with every amenity), over new and “faux Alpine” resort, this is your place. The hotel is also in the center of this picturesque town and easily walkable to almost all its offerings. Our appreciation to the warm and welcoming staff, the chefs, and especially to Carl at the front desk. If I ever have the opportunity to come to Telluride in the future, I will gladly stay at the New Sheridan again. Thank you all so much for a memorable and comfortable stay during a special time for our family. Telluride is a special place and the New Sheridan is a downtown jewel in the crown.

Looking forward to a return visit. This place has a nice feel to it. Reminds me of a cafe in Chicago I liked to visit.

While in Telluride, we utilized the Saloon at New Sheridan. The atmosphere and building were quite stunning. However, the cocktails were half the size one would normally expect. And, the bar tender was less than cordial. When asking for the credit card to be returned (kept it because of an open tab) since we were finished. He started bantering, stating “the computer has it” “I don’t have it” ect. Finally, I said No, it’s staring at me in the fancy cardholder next to your register!! No, won’t be back

This is about the restaurant. The price makes you expect 4 stars but what you get is one star service and food. My Entrée, pasta, was $30.00 it was less then ok and when I asked if I could have a little bread with it they said only if you want the bread basket $8.00. The staff is dressed like they Just got out of bead. I don’t mind paying the 4 star price but I expect 4 star food and service. I didn’t get it. The wine list by the glass is so small I couldn’t find it and when I did it wasn’t worth it.

I do not know about the rooms but the breakfast was really good. Decent choices and fair priced. It is a small room next to an old time bar, we really loved the feel of the place. Servers were great and my coffee was always hot and full.

The best getaway to start my summer! I ventured here in June and the weather was great. The walk along the San Miguel River was beautiful and peaceful. The waterfall was powerful and a spectacular view. I can't remember the mobile coffee that was a block or two from the hotel, but the latte I ordered was delicious (especially if you like sugar free flavoring).

This, in combination with rules limiting the number of people in public and private gatherings, makes it impossible for venues to host shows.
